Would you buy your child an iPad?
Yep, the hot item this holiday season seems to be an iPad: http://bit.ly/11AnRHf
Would you get your child one? Do you plan on it? Have you already?

No I would not, children do not need such expensive electronic equipment at such young ages. Our children are learning that you have to work for large expensive items the way that we do. It is better to teach them at a younger age that no one in life just hands you things, you have to work for them.

Re: Would you buy your child an iPad?
I saw this article in the FYI this morning and nearly spit out my coffee at the part about the parents worried about their three year-old being the only one in class who doesn't know how to operate a computer if they don't get her one.
Wow. Hey, that parent: don't worry about it. Your kid's classroom will have one, and by the end of kindergarten they will be teaching you stuff. If you want to give her a real head-start, get her going on reading.
And find a new way to justify your purchase.
My answer is this: No.
The cost of an ipad far exceeds my budget for all three of my children- combined.

Absolutely not! No child NEEDS one of these. This is a wonderful toy that can be used as a tool but really, no one needs one. And they are freakin' expensive!
The only reason one is in my house now is because my hubby won one. I know, right? How cool was that?
