I deleted a thread
FYI everyone:
I have taken down a forum discussion about the Waldo-area rapist after someone made a really good point to me about safety.
We don't want anyone to worry that they've revealed too much information about where they live.
Thanks for understanding.

Really? We're going to give him that kind of power? Don't you think we are grownups and know what we are posting? I don't like this decision of yours, kady, but you're the boss. For the record, I don't live in fear of the Waldo rapist.

I don't think it gives him any power to have that removed.
I think it was the right thing to do.
Just because you feel that you make good decisions doesn't mean that others always use caution.

Don't be mad at Kady. I was the one who asked her to delete it. I think it was an unsafe thread. I'll stand by that. Sorry if it offended you to have it removed. That was never my intent. In fact, I'm sort of surprised that it did offend someone. My apologies.

Re: I deleted a thread
I think I was the only one who posted anything remotely about location on the thread, so I think Kady took the thread down due to my post (I could be wrong, I don't know if I saw the last post). I just wanted Kady to know that her unilateral action irritated me. It's sweet people are worried about my safety. A little condescending, but sweet.

Re: I deleted a thread
Actually my fear wasn't about any one post. It was about the whole thread. I didn't mean to be condescending, but if it means one less woman in KC is raped... I'll be condescending all day long.

Re: I deleted a thread
So my window alarms and door alarms information is gone?
Maybe the question about "where you live" could have been removed or deleted? instead of the entire thread?
Not intending to create a stir or question any authority, just looking for clarification.

There was some good information on that thread. I guess I don't get why it was a dangerous thread. Can you clarify Jen?

Re: I deleted a thread
Hi everyone,
I made the best decision as the administrator of this board that I could at the time. I did so with good intent. I didn't have time to pick and choose what stayed up and what didn't. Deleting the entire forum was the most expedient and fair way to handle it.
I didn't want to risk anyone's safety.
Obviously, I thought this topic is one that is important to women on this site, or I wouldn't have started it in the first place. Perhaps I worded it wrong?
Anyone who wants to start another thread on the topic is free to do so. I'd just caution you not to discuss where you live.
Sorry, gematree, that your good info about alarms is gone. I'd encourage you to post again if you want.
