Bye-bye Bratz?
Newsflash! Mattel Inc. has won a court order banning MGA Entertainment from making and selling Bratz dolls, which were found to infringe on Mattel's copyrights.
Bratz dolls entered the market in 2001. Since then Barbie sales have dropped. The ban is scheduled to go into affect next year.

I'd be happy if they banned ALL OF THEM. Honestly, the creepy big head and feet..the fact that you don't just change their shoes but pull their legs off??? YIKES!!!
I'm glad DD's Bratz phase only lasted 5 minutes.

My DD cheered louder than I did-- she thinks they are " 'ho dolls" and she NEVER liked them even when she played with dolls.

That's what I said to DH when we saw a commercial for them. Honestly I hope DD never wants Barbie either. I used to dress mannequins and people would always say "You must've loved Barbie." Uhm....NO.

I agree w/ your DD. We do not need to promote the ghetto fab culture.

Wow, maybe their value on ebay will go up! I have some still in the package. Not that I was collecting them, but I just didn't like them, so stuck them away but hated to re-gift them.

Good this means that I will not have to tell DD that she can not have them when she gets older, because well they won't even be around!
I have a little cousin that has some of them and a mom that doesn't really pay attention to her and my cousin always tries to dress like the dolls and her mom thinks it is ok. IT IS NOT OK!! She is only 8!!! Thank goodness they are going away!!

When DD was 7 the big thing was the Mary Kate and Ashley clothes at WalMart...so off we went....no, didn't buy anything but I did send a letter to their corporat office asking why they were carrying a line of clothes targeting 5 to 12 year olds that made them look like hookers.

Just what legs does Barbie have to stand on here exactly? Yes, yes, we know they are shapely and curvy and tanned and at least her FEET don't pull off like those Bratz, but plllllllleeeeeeaaaaaasssssseeee!:!:!: Why is there not room in the market for both dolls???? Barbie isn't necessarily a good role model either! I'm always having to STREETTTTCCHHH and pull her skimpy clothes on, too.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!
I am among the camp that will be celebrating by burning Bratz dolls. I truly hate those things. My dd was given a Bratz Big Babyz when she was two as a Christmas gift. Although she loved the thing, I was a bit disturbed by the image the doll put out there. These dolls, even the Big Babyz, promote the idea that to be pretty, one must wear a LOT of makeup and very few clothes. Or at least, very revealing clothes. They encourage little girls to dress like tramps. Now, I am not a big conservative by any means, but these dolls go too far. I remember when the big hullabaloo was about Barbies creating an unrealistic ideal for little girls to live up to. Well, what about these dolls? Their heads are far too big for their bodies, making them look more emaciated than Kate Moss on a bad day, their makeup seems more streetcorner than runway, and their clothing would be at home on Paris Hilton. What kind of message does that give our girls?
Personally, I am glad to see them go. I would much rather my child play with Barbies who now have thicker waists, smaller busts, and less makeup than in previous years, than something that looks like it came off the catwalk at a strip club.

I love Daffodils!!!This was taken at the Overland Park Arboretum last year. I will spare you the details of the bizarre position I had to get into in order to get this photo.
