Breast-feeding dolls: cool or creepy?

Breast-feeding dolls: cool or creepy?

Postby mom2momkc on Thu Nov 08, 2012 11:27 pm

Bill O'Reilly is criticizing the breast-feeding dolls: http://bit.ly/TbeVTq
What do you think? Is he right? Or is the doll a great idea?

I personally think they are over the top and totally unnecessary. I nursed both boys and do not think breastfeeding in a sexual way but putting a halter over your girls chest with magnets so the doll will make the sucking sound borders on pedo.
If you are gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough.

All of my kids "nursed " their dolls. A special doll seems like a waste of money to me.

Dolls are pretend, and a kid can pretend to nurse any doll. No need to add bells and whistles to the doll for that. I don't think it needs to be discouraged, but I see no reason to go above and beyond to actually encourage it, either.

I agree the doll is a bit much and a waste of money. Both of my girls used their dollies to imitate me when younger siblings were born. Nothing wrong with it. They even used a blanket to cover up - much cheaper option. Reminds me of the potty dolls. Are those still around? I'm not sure the media needs to make a big stink about it - leave it alone and sales will drop and the product will loose it's luster.
