Almost Egg Time!

Almost Egg Time!

Postby JoLynne on Thu Mar 28, 2013 12:36 pm

Whose kids have favorite ways of dying or decorating their Easter eggs? A few years ago, my daughter decided she liked drawing on them with her markers, so she can make them really fancy. Of course, we don't eat them after they've been drawn on with a non-food substance ... but they're awfully pretty.

Speaking of not eating Easter eggs ... my mom always made egg salad out of ours after they'd been sitting out all night, and none of us ever got sick. But I'm really hesitant to eat Easter eggs, which is why I don't mind my daughter getting creative with them.

So I guess that's my second question ... Do you eat your Easter eggs, or are they just for finding and fun?

No way do I eat the Easter eggs. My husband does but not the rest of us. We don't want the risk.

My kids didn't really care for the whole decorating eggs . . . so we just have plastic ones now. (So we don't eat them ;) )

When I was little I remember making the Easter eggs, but I don't think that anyone ate them afterwards.

Baby Daughter will come with her boyfriend and has requested they dye eggs while here. (She is now 21 for those who remember hearing about her in the past) I'm going to get the Paas brand tablets and use those. Plus I saw a method using the Paas color with shaving cream to create a marbleized look.

We like to roll them in shaving cream that is mixed with food coloring. Or we do the traditional box kind. That is always fun, but I hate the vinegar smell !!!

We always put ours in the fridge after we colored them-and I always did just enough so that we could eat them in a week's time. I have a couple of boiled egg lovers in my house so it worked out well.
