Walmart's New Holiday Price Matching Policy

Walmart's New Holiday Price Matching Policy

Postby KCStrategicShopper on Mon Oct 24, 2011 11:28 am

Fa la la la Price Matching. Walmart just announed that holiday shoppers who buy something at a Walmart store between Nov. 1 and Dec. 25, but later find the identical product elsewhere for less, can get a gift card in the amount of the difference. This policy does not apply to groceries, but is geared toward the holiday shoppers. To qualify, shoppers can bring in the original Wal-Mart receipt (you don't need to bring in the item) and the local competitor's print ad up to Dec. 25.

This would apply to Black Friday sales as well. Looks like I'll be sleeping in this year!

This should apply to the printed advertisements for "doorbuster" Black Friday sales as well. You can sign up to receive notices of Black Friday sales ahead of time (black-friday.net or blackfriday.info are a couple examples). Once you see what is going to be in the printed ads you can buy ahead of time at your leisure at Walmart. Keep your receipt and then get a copy of the ad when it comes out. Take your receipt and ad to Walmart on or before Dec. 25 and get your gift card for the difference. With this strategy you are not only getting the lowest price, you are able to buy it when it is in stock, which is half your battle on Black Friday.

The Evil Empire will do anything to make sure other retailers don't get business, won't it?

No it will make sure morons don't trample people to death on Black Friday to get a good deal on a DVD player.

Um...isn't Walmart giving gift cards for the difference? I think it would encourage the opposite.

They are also offering layaway between now and December 16th, with the exception of Black Friday, for anything in the jewelry, appliance, or electronic department.

I think it sounds like a good deal. I remember when they used to do layaway and you could take the ads in and they would discount your layaway with the price matches. I am glad to see layaway back, even if is only for Christmas.

Don't get too excited. A good deal - yes, but it does NOT include Black Friday sale prices.
