Taylor Anne Ready for the Road Ahead
My Dearest Daughter,
Finally the day has come and you are a high school graduate. The last thirteen years of faithfully attending school, making the grade, fighting the peer pressure and standing your own ground have culminated into this well-deserved milestone. As you are walking across the stage, proudly clad in your school colors and honor cords, you will receive a piece of paper that establishes that you have succeeded in your endeavors thus far. I will applaud, shed proud tears and smile wide because I know it hasn’t always been easy, but you have always received the challenge well.
You will leave the graduation ceremony with your diploma in your hand, ready to face the world head on. Undoubtedly, you are a little scared. That is okay. I want you to know that fear can be your friend or your foe, it is your choice. You can use it to fuel your ambitions, to attain your dreams, or to stifle your progress in life. You decide. Just know that I am always here to listen and to encourage you, because even I am not immune to fear.
Even though you won’t enter the halls of a high school anymore does not mean that there still won’t be peer pressure, people out there trying to steer you into the wrong direction. It is up to you to stand your ground, take the morals and values that have been instilled in you throughout your childhood and lean on them. Don’t forget that I am here to give you a gentle reminder if you need and remember that I love you no matter what mistakes you make.
My dearest girl, you have done an awesome job of making the right choices regarding substances that can cloud your mind. There will always be consequences for your actions. Continue down the road you have already paved and you will be okay.
You have a strong work ethic, this you have shown through maintaining high grades while working part time for the last few years. You realized years ago that it took a family effort keep our household running smoothly and you seldom balked. Your ambitions of working your way through college, with the help of scholarships, are totally do-able for you.
As you continue to step towards your future, don’t forget to live, laugh, love and thank the Good Lord every day, otherwise life will be very dull and lonely.
Today, we celebrate with family and friends in the beautiful month of May, with an abundance of food and cheer. Life will not always be a celebration, but you have the tools and abilities, my dear daughter, to navigate whatever challenging road life may place you on. Charge forward, girl. You can do it!Love,
