There was once a little girl, with blonde hair and wide, blue eyes. Quiet in nature, she was a gentle observer. She spent a lot of time reading, escaping into the plot, sometimes wishing that she could be sucked into the story. Yes, she was quiet and introverted, but she longed to live an adventurous tale.
As she got older and entered teen-dom, her desire to find herself led her to many a precarious situation. Her direction was skewed, and she followed instead of led and her values and morals were tested. She fell more than she stood. It took several years to realize that there was only One that she needed follow.
Soon, she started a new life, full of babes, a spouse and a career. Caretaking became the watchword as she tried to raise her kids to be themselves, to be leaders and not followers. During this time, she lost her spouse to his own vicissitudes, and she was left alone to try to instill the values and morals that she knew would sustain her children in their futures.
Regaining her composure, she made her way through the next few years, kids in tow, sometimes falling more than standing and having to relearn how to ask for help. This time, the payoff wasn’t self-destroying, but exhilarating. Soon, she had more self-reliance, but always new Who to thank for her blessings.
The children continue to grow, and in six months one will spread her wings and fly off to college. The woman has confidence her daughter will be able to maneuver her way through the sky, even if she hits some turbulence here or there. Her siblings will follow in a few years, and the woman sits back and watches each one make their way, getting closer.
Today, the woman is still quiet in nature and frankly, is a little lost. She isn’t looking to follow, no, for that is over-rated. She is wants to blaze some trails, but she can’t seem to get the fire started. She knows that with a little help from the One, she will be able to continue her own adventurous tale.
