My work and family: freelance journalist and mother of three kids, two dogs, three cats
Bio/Interests: Kate was the perfect mother until she had children. Three kids later, she’s discovered that the world of parenting has few absolutes. She despises the term “Mommy Wars” and wishes women would quit beating up on each other and just worry about their own kids — but not obsessively, because that drives her crazy, too. Kate and her husband, Matt, are the parents of Joe, 14; Maggie, 12; and Tom, 7. In 2001, Kate left her reporting job at The Star and now freelances. She blogs on Tuesdays.
