Bo's birthday cake instructions
Birthday time.
My little guy is turning 7. The big s-e-v-e-n.
That's not really a milestone, is it? Maybe every birthday is supposed to be a milestone.
I tried talking him into just a simple family get together, a little pizza, a little cake and a few presents. But no.
Once again he wanted a party. A kid party. With lots of friends. More toys (right after Christmas, too).
Someone's going to need a Marley's Mellow Mood.
How can I say no to such a cute little boy? My boy. He's got these big bright blue eyes. I don't want to disappoint.
Laser tag it is. With a bunch of friends. With not one, but two cookie cakes.
He was very specific about his cake this time.
"Here's my cake, mom, I want it to look like this."
He handed me a drawing. (See above)
"I want a circle cookie cake with orange icing on the edge, a Longhorn in the middle and my name spelled out with yellow m&m's."
Guess what I'll be doing Sunday morning... separating yellow m&m's from a bag of red, blue, brown, orange, yellow and green.
Anything for the love of my life.
I've done some pretty elaborate cakes in my day. Remember my blog about the Ninjago cake I slaved over? Also on my resume of cake decorating: Ben 10 and Thor.
I wonder what I'll have to conjure up next year.
One of these days I suppose I'll miss all this "fun" stuff. I'll wonder why I complained so much about being in a room with 25 kids. Well, I think I'll know why I won't miss that part...
What are some of your 2013 birthday themes? Are they still all the classics like Spiderman, Cars, Thomas and monster trucks?
My best friend, Jill, is throwing a mustache bash for her son's first birthday. Very innovative. I bet once he discovers he has a voice for himself she'll have to give in to his Batman party request.
