The facebook trend during Thanksgiving season was to post something you were thankful for once a day.
Of course most people were thankful for family, friends and kids. After a while, I kinda got tired of reading all the "thankful posts," but I scanned through them.
Since most of you aren't facebook friends with me, I thought maybe I'd post some of my own "thankful posts" here for the entire world to read.
I didn't hit all the days I was supposed to, but I got most of them.
Nov. 1: I am thankful for my health. I am thankful God/Jah created a little piece of heaven called "Key West." I am also thankful for reggae, sailboats, friends who make me laugh, an awesome son, conch fritters, Marley's Mellow Mood, crazy good-lookin' parents and a husband who shares a passion for the sea.
Nov. 2: I am thankful for the orthodontist who straightened my crooked teeth when I was a kid.
Nov. 4: I am thankful for box fans and vasectomies. I wouldn't be able to sleep without either one.
Nov. 5: I am thankful for plumbers. Especially Union ones who help protect the health of the nation.
Nov. 6: I am thankful for late night Sonic hot fudge sundaes. That's why I'm "curvy."
Nov. 7: Tonight I'm thankful for the dollar store where you can get a pack of name brand batteries for a buck.
Nov. 8: Today I'm thankful for coworkers with a sense of humor.
Nov. 9: Hmm, what am I thankful for today... pepperoni. Because at the moment it makes my sandwich taste good.
Nov. 10: Tonight I'm thankful for the power of music. Especially from a man who brings my family of three together. Thank you, Mr. Nesta Robert Marley. A.k.a Bob Marley. Could you imagine a world emancipating themselves from mental slavery?
Nov. 13: I am thankful for boys. Scrubbing boogers off the wall is good clean fun.
Nov. 15: I am thankful for the good ol fashion duo: pen and paper.
Nov. 17: I am thankful for soap. Without it, I would be stinky.
Nov. 19: Today, I am thankful for Prince. But I still can't figure out what it sounds like when doves cry...
Nov. 20: I am thankful for fresh bathrobes that smell like softener. And for days off work, which enable me to enjoy this bathrobe smell.
Nov. 21: I am thankful that my husband and I share the same interests such as tattoos, cheese dip, houseboats, Reggae, booze, bacon and vasectomies.
Nov. 22: I am thankful for butter.
There you have it. Setting my profile to private isn't all that exciting, especially if this is the kind of crap you're missing.
As I sit here and write this, it's nearly midnight. Yes, I went out shopping for some Black Friday deals for the first time ever.
I won't be doing that anymore.
I got hit in the back of the leg with a shopping cart while trying to grab two $19 printers from Walmart.
Was it worth it? I dunno. Maybe.
My nephew needs a printer so that he doesn't have to wake up early to print his papers at the school library.
I grabbed the other one for us because ol faithful, Epson 1280, doesn't seem to be cool enough to have ink cartridges sold at any stores.
While waiting for the 10 p.m. deadline for these suckers to ring up at $19, I browsed around and found some other stuff I didn't need: more toys for Bo, some smelly stuff, a 13-inch HDTV for the kitchen ($88) and a portable air compressor (thank you, Neil Nakahodo, for making me crave one of these).
I spent way too much money.
Any of you go shopping last night?
I was kinda hoping I'd witness a fight break out, but... no fight. Bummer.
