My morning started off bad. I caught a flat on the way into work this morning. I work downtown in the Government area. I am 6+ months pregnant to make things even better. I changed my own tire like most super women in today's age.
What kills me is that NOT ONE PERSON asked if I needed help. Mind you - this was 7:45 a.m. on a workday, downtown Kansas City, Mo. At least 40 people walked past me and my big belly trying to change this flat with the worthless jack that car makers give you.
So I had my first "MY SON won't ignore someone in need like this - he will be a better person" thought. I'm sure that I'm not the only mom (to be) with those kind of thoughts. It's just a sad commentary on our society today I guess.
ooooh! I'd be a bit upset if nobody volunteered to help. I think people are really afraid to offer assistance. Sorry you had a cruddy morning. Yes, your son WILL be more compasionate. Good on you for wanting to teach him that.First of all, congrats on your pregnancy! Secondly, THAT"S AWFUL!! Someone should have stopped to help you! I'm sorry that happened to you. They walked by? I always think I should stop and help people I see on the side of the road, but then I'm scared that it might be dangerous. But if I WALKED by a pregnant woman changing a tire -- I would absolutely stop and help you!Something similar happened to me when I was pregnant with my first. Except, my car broke down. After waiting for 45 minutes in rush hour traffic on 435, (back before I had a cell phone!) a police officer came to the rescue and drove me to work. Congrats on the pregnancy. What a cruddy way to start your day!
