Last week was a total loss for DH. Total Loss is the newest fun-times statement around our house after our Golf accident two weeks ago. Mr. ‘I don’t do flu shots’ came down hard with the flu on Christmas Eve.
When the kids awoke on Christmas Day, DH watched them from his make-shift bed on the floor. I knew where this was going… DH was about to be down for the count. I love DH with all of my heart, but his constitution isn’t the best. When he gets sick, it devastates him. I had a bad feeling he was going to come down with something soon; you can only burn the candle at both ends for a while before it catches up with you.
I cooked Christmas lunch by myself while wearing Ryker, then the Abuelos came over for lunch with me and the kids while DH slept on the couch. After the family hoopla, DH moved upstairs to his home for the next week – the bed.
I have said it before and I will say it again, I give mad props to you single mommas out there. DH lived in our bed for a week solid, leaving me essentially alone with the kiddos. I really don’t know how you guys do it! I was about to go crazy after one week of THREE babies (heheheheh) by myself!
I was getting pretty worried about him to be honest. One of my best friends recently lost her brother-in-law to the flu. He was only 42-years-old and left behind a wife and 2-year-old son. He went to the emergency room with the flu a week before he passed away. They thought he was on the rebound, but was re-admitted into the hospital and died within 4 hours.
DH did go to the doctor; the flu with double-ear infections. After three days on prescriptions, I am glad to report the DH is on the rebound. He isn’t 100 percent yet, but he’s back on solid foods and wearing street clothes again. This flu bug is pretty intense – he was away from work for a full week!
Hope you guys stay healthy out there – I wouldn’t wish this flu strand on anyone!
