Hello!
I am new to this whole "mom" thing. I am only 3 months along and I'm already wondering about the basics. Right now it's stollers.
I was jus wondering if anyone has a favorite stroller they can't live without? I'm confused about what kind would be best...... a simple BabiesRUs version or a high-end designer version.
Anyone own a Bugaboo, Bumblerider or simple Graco? Which one is the best? Is all that extra money worth it?
I used the strollers that have it where you can place the carseat in it , it was so much easier to use because if baby was sleeping you did not have to worry about waking them. I had an Eddie Bauer stroller and when they get a little older they can ride in the stroller. When my youngest truned one I got an smaller stroller with the basket underneath it so much easier to push around in crowded areas like The Legands Target has the carseat strollers as well because you can register at more than one place. I tell you my stoller/caresat lasted for both of my boys. I dont think it matters as long as they keep you little bundle safe. I have heard good things about Graco my sil had one never heard of ther others. I hope I was of some help.I also used one of the "systems" that allowed the carseat to be snapped onto the stroller. I think that mine is evenflo. I still use the stroller (18mo) when we need it for an all day type thing. I also have a 10.00 umbrella stoller that always stays in the car for little things (trip into the mall). I really like my stroller, it was not very expensive and has help up really well. Most people I know don't need the super high-end ones, unless you are a big runner and need the stability for that. Some things that I looked for when purchasing my stoller were: Are the cupholders big enough for bottles, sippy cups, and my travel mug, is there a place to conveniently store any size diaper bag (and can you get to it if the seat is laid down all the way), is there a place to store cell phone, and can you steer with one hand. I know that seems like a lot of criteria but it really helped me. Good Luck!Congratulations! My stroller years are behind me now -- but here's my 2 cents. You want something that is lightweight and easy to open and close. You will get very tired of hauling that thing in and out of your vehicle. I'm leary of the combination carseat/strollers because I think you want the safest carseat possible -- and when they are combining functions something is bound to be sacrificed. I found a frame (I think through Right Start) that held my carseat. That was great until the babies were about 9 months old - at that point a regular stroller is better because you won't believe how heavy those babyseats get as your baby grows. Also -- the umbrella strollers are great once they are about a year old. Perfect for quick trips into the doctor or to the mall. Best of Luck!i agree, the umbrella stroller is a must have. i think some differences in the brands are how the handles on the car seat are shaped and how they are adjusted. check to see if you can remove the straps and padding easily without breaking the clips for cleaning. if you go with a 3-wheeler, make sure the front wheel pivots, or it will be really hard to turn. make sure that the stroller will fit in your trunk (and the grandparent's trunk). No question...get a system. I don't think it really matters, ours was from Babies R Us on the clearance rack and we're on our second kid with it. It's an Eddie Bauer, so whoever makes that line. I'm thinking Graco maybe. Just make sure it closes with one hand. Try them out. Find the one you want now so you can watch for it to go on clearance. Umbrella strollers are a joke for me. I'm very tall and I'd have to hunker down to use one. Also, people don't move out of your way for your kid when they're crammed into an umbrella as opposed to when they're in the SUV of strollers. :) I wouldn't give up my full sized stroller for anything. Above all, don't use a preowned carseat. That is the one thing you don't compromise on. I say that because I see a lot of nice systems at garage sales and second hand stores. If you want one, get it for the stroller only and buy a new carseat. Have fun! I enjoyed all the baby stuff shopping with my first!
