The multi-million dollar question is who gets Michael’s kids. This sounds like it’s going to be a long and nasty battle.
First you have Debbie Rowe, the biological mother of Michael Jackson's first two children – it sounds like she has legal claim to Prince Michael and Paris Michael. The mother of “Blanket” has never been made public, but I’m sure she will come out of the woodwork soon enough.
Jackson’s mother, Katherine has said that she wants custody, but sources close to Michael said he wanted the nanny, Grace Rwaramba to care for them if anything happened to him.
No doubt about it – whoever gets the kids, gets the money. That is if there is anything left after settling Jackson’s massive debt.
My question is where the heck is his will?
You would think that with all the money this man has spent on lawyers they would have drafted him a simple will!
Two things that you should do the second you find out you are pregnant is write a will and buy a life insurance. I know it’s a pain and it’s expensive, but think about what would happen if you don’t do it.
Without a will, all your belongings go into probate court… if both of you die that includes custody of your kids. SO SCARY!
I have seen first-hand what happens when someone passes away without a will or life insurance. It’s messy and it makes the whole tragedy even worse. I have seen families tear themselves apart about how the person wanted to be laid to rest, fight over personal belongings and wonder how they are going to pay the bills now that there is only one income.
We learned a big lesson from watching our close friends’ family suffer from his sudden loss. A week after his passing, we bought life insurance policies and started our will.
I believe he does have a will, they were discussing it this morning on E! that he HAD done so. It is is interim that the mother is keeping the children. The problem with wills is that they can be contested. We had no problem deciding who gets the first 3 if we die....they all have another parent to go to. This critter...well, we are having trouble picking. All of our money is in a trust, so we have already designated where that goes....which cannot be contested or touched.I hope someone in his position had a will. I would hate to see those children go thru the anxiety of being fought over. My step-dad passed away 3 years ago from bone cancer. He had not made a will. Why, I am not sure. We all knew what the final outcome would be & that the cancer would take his life. I think everything would have gone just fine but my oldest step-sister (who spent many years estranged due to her dislike of my mom) decided she didn't want to sign off on anything & didn't think my mom should have everything. (In the end, almost all of his life insurance went to settling bills w/doctors). This past month the estate was finally settled but not before feelings got hurt, sisters bickering with each other & over what??? He & my mom are not rich people, it was material issues being argued over. All because he did not have a will. It is not worth tearing familes apart over! My dh & I just recently asked our 23 yr old daughter if she would take custody of the boys if something happened to the 2 of us. We now are wanting to find an attorney to draft this for us. Especially, because she does not share our last name & my dh never formally adopted her. I don't want there to be any hang ups that she would have to deal with on top of her added responsibilities. I want things to go smoothly if something ever like that happened.I do hope things work out for the best interests of the kids. We have a will and have updated everytime we've added a kid...we've even changed our guardians after the second kid was born. Our attorney strongly suggests back up guardians be listed as sometimes the first set might not be in the same position to as they were when you first asked them. If you want his information I'll be happy to share it, not sure if I'm allowed to post it so just contact me. He has been an attorney for years and works for a great law firm and his "will" rates are very, very reasonable. We also did our power of attorney/health papers too. Those are also important to have if ever a health crisis should happen. Also if you ever move to a different state you need to have a local attorney verify that your will is okay...sometimes certain things change so you have to have your will changed to reflect your wishes properly--i know you'd think it would be standard in every state but it's not. They probably just aren't making everything public yet because they would like a little bit of privacy in this matter. For his kids' sake, I hope that they get this sorted out soon, so they can get acclimated. I have a question for you ladies, though. How do you decide who to name as guardians? ILs are too old, my parents just divorced, my bro is too immature and DH's sibs all have their own families to worry about. What about friends?I have said this lots of times on the site- consult an attorney. You may need a trust if you have children. A simple will does not take care of it all. If you need a good one, send me a PM>
