This is my first week back to work after my wonderful maternity leave. My plans of winning the lotto so I could stay home didn't work out so here I am. My daycare provider is wonderful - she is warm, caring and competent.
I do worry that my son will begin to think of her as mommy. I am jealous that she gets to spend the waking hours with him. I leave for work when he's asleep and when I pick him up I only get a few hours before bedtime.
Is this a common worry? I'm trying to deal with my emotions about the situation - anger that I can't stay at home with him and fear of being replaced as mommy.
Did anyone else feel this way? Am I the only one with return-to-work mommy guilt?
I had that too when I first started sending our oldest to daycare, but we found a great lady and he still calls here momma missa and he has been home with me now for over a year! But it is just another person in his life that has shown him love and he remembers that! We had more than one daycare provider and the others he was not so fond of, so now I know what a great provider she really was!!I remember those days--the most important issue is that he has a loving provider. For me the hardest time was before she could talk as it is harder to know what is happening all day. I didn't really worry about the DCP replacing me--I still nursed so I had that special bond that no one (including my DH) had. If you can flex your schedule and take at least a half day once a month, it is wonderful to have a mom-baby playdate! Oh what I would do to have a baby playdate strolling in the park instead of mom-tween dates to the Sprint store :)!
